St Anselm’s Preparation With the Right Skills, in the Right Format

St Anselm’s is different to the standard multiple-choice 11+. Pupils must be able to communicate clearly in writing and show confident mathematical working, so preparation needs to go beyond speed and guessing technique.

At The Study Zone, pupils targeting St Anselm’s follow our structured roadmap to build strong foundations in Year 3, develop exam technique in Year 4, then sharpen performance in Year 5. Alongside this, we provide targeted St Anselm’s support that focuses on the key differentiators of the exam — especially Creative Writing and Advanced Standard Format Maths.

Our preparation is designed to help pupils:

Plan and structure high-scoring creative writing
Improve written accuracy, vocabulary and sentence control
Develop formal comprehension strategies
Build confidence with standard-format maths and showing working
Boys targeting St Anselm’s typically secure their core GL Assessment skills through the main 11+ programme, then join our dedicated St Anselm’s workshops to refine the exam-specific
areas that make the difference on the day.
